Apparently, there was a bit of a to do in San Francisco yesterday surrounding Twilight star Robert Pattinson! He was going to do a meet and greet in one of the malls in the city, and girls were lining up to get one of the five hundred wristbands that would let them in to the event. Problem number one: Over three thousand girls showed up! Problem number two: Some idiot came up with the grand idea to rush the front of the line, which only resulted in people getting hurt, the police showing up, and the whole thing being cancelled!!! That’s the biggest problem of all!!!
Lesson? Don’t act like an idiot about someone you’ve never met, and probably will never see again! Sure, it’s great to see a star, and fun to meet your heroes and people you look up to! Just do your best not to lose your mind, or people might get hurt, and the thing you were most looking forward to might just get cancelled! If I was Robert Pattinson, I don’t think I would have wanted to put myself into that crazy group of people! Would you?!?
In LA, we see a lot of stars pretty regularly. And because of what we do, we probably see them more often than most people. Stars really appreciate a kind word, a friendly smile, and being pretty much left alone - just like you and me! Our rule of thumb is: If you can’t treat them like a normal person, keep your distance until you can. And the funny thing is, our photog Eric sees Robert just about every night at one event or another in Hollywood…and he’s a very quiet, friendly guy.
Do something fun with your friends: Act like you’re a big fan of your best friend. Like they are the star you dream most about seeing. Act just like you would to them, asking for autographs etc. Each of you should take turns being the center of this attention. At first it might be fun, or even funny, but if it goes on - and with three thousand fans, it could go on and on! - you’ll begin to feel strange. That level of hysteria doesn’t make anyone feel comfortable - it makes them feel more like they’re about to be eaten!
Am I going on too long?!? I guess I’m just feeling sorry for the stars today…fame doesn’t always equal being able to afford enough security to keep yourself safe! We’ve seen Britney being bothered by the paparazzi, and it’s no wonder she lost it. And though hitting is never the answer, we kind of understand when stars are driven to break a camera - we’re more surprised it doesn’t happen more often, really!
So if you see a star, do your best to be calm and polite! They’ll really appreciate it!
