Homework Rituals
Wednesday, April 16th, 2008We all have different ways of getting the most out of our minds when it comes to studying - have you found yours yet? Our brains all work just a little differently when it comes to storing information that we can bring up again later, depending on our strengths and weaknesses. What does that mean?
Some people are very musical, and can remember things better if they learn them while listening to music or even singing or dancing as they study! Others need total quiet, while yet other people can have the tv running in the background to help them concentrate! If you’re good at sports, attaching a movement to something you need to remember will help you recall it later (check Akeelah tapping her leg in the spelling bee movie “Akeelah and the Bee”). People who are visual and artistic may like drawing or colorfully highlighting important words or phrases in their notes.
Whatever your strengths are, with a little creativity, you can use them to help you in all areas of your life! Just don’t let a little dancing through a test get in your way! What’s more embarrassing? A little jig in algebra, or not getting to go to college and become the best person you can with all the opportunities spread out before you? Use what you got to succeed!
What are your most useful study tricks?
