Did You Feel the Earth Move?

Earthquakes don’t only happen in California!  According to today’s news, a 5.2 magnitude earthquake rocked through the midwest early this morning at 4:36am, and among the aftershocks was one that was a 4.5 on the Richter scale.  Those are some pretty good sized earthquakes!  Luckily, no one was hurt and there was only minor damage throughout the region, where building codes aren’t set up the same way as in California.

Earthquakes occur more regularly around the Pacific Rim. which is the westcoast of the Americas all the way up to Alaska and down the east coast of Asia and into the south Pacific including New Zealand.  It’s sometimes called ‘The Ring of Fire’ because of all the tectonic and volcanic activity found here.  But there are also active fault lines in America’s midwest and in the middle of Europe, too!

Have you experienced and earthquake?  Tell us all about it!  Where and when was it, and what was it like?

Yes, here in Georgia awhile back (atleast 5 years ago), I had an earthquake experience. It was REALLY late, and all the sudden I woke up with everything shaking. But I didn’t really mind, it was kinda fun lol.
