Chikezie, Anyone?!?

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Who saw that coming???  The performance of the night last night was Chikezie’s amazingly fresh and hot rendition of the Beatles song “She’s a Woman”, no contest!  Love who you want any other night, but was that riveting, or what?!?  We also enjoyed Amanda channelling Janis Joplin, and Brooke getting so emotional on us.  Our secret hearts are going out to the super cute Jason Castro and also to rocker David Cook!  Good work, everyone!

What was your fave performance of the night?  And who do you think is going home?

Weird KEWL Facts

Tuesday, March 11th, 2008

Did you know that no one at KEWL has a tattoo?  And nearly everyone has their birthday in April?  There are only two interns who don’t have their birthday’s in April, and only one April birthday that doesn’t fall in Aries!  How weird is that!?!  KEWL was born in April, too!  On April 14th we celebrated our Launch Party, so that’s a good day to use, right?  In actual fact, that first magazine took way longer to organize and put together than any since- so it might actually be a Scorpio or a Libra!  We had to decide what kinds of things we felt were important to put into the magazine, and what we could really do without… like putting words into the stars mouths.  We don’t do that.  We prefer getting out there and talking to the stars, and getting their feelings and words straight from them.  Our first big interview in the office was Drake Bell, and even after the interview was done, we all sat around talking for another two hours just for fun! (Any surprise that he’s a really great guy? Thought not!)

More weird facts: Only two people in the office don’t rollerskate well, and most of the office is on the US Synchronized Roller Skating Team!  Two of our main editors met while performing in a musical, and they both speak German!  How random is that?  They’ve both been lead singers for bands (one much more successfully than the other!), and EVERYBODY has either graduated from college, or is in college now! (That’s not so weird, I guess - after all, we all have great jobs!)

Everyone has things about them that make them interesting and unique.  Usually, it’s just so normal to them, that they don’t realize it!  One of our writer’s fought off a shark once - but she knows that’s not so normal!

What makes you special?

What’s your style?

Monday, March 10th, 2008

Do you know?  There will always be parts of your personal style that come from how and where you grew up, but your taste can never be limited!  Go to a book store and look through some interior design magazines - what do you like?  Some things might look great, but seem a little awkward for actually living in, while others may have no trouble at all feeling comfy in exactly the same style room.  Isn’t it kewl how different we all can be?

In the comments, describe your style to us!  Try using colors, fabrics, and even metaphors to give us the idea of what you want us to see!  A metaphor is when you equate things that aren’t really equal - like saying someone is a beautiful rainbow!  (It’s a simile if you say they are ‘like’ a rainbow!)

Get out and process your vitamin D!

Friday, March 7th, 2008

In school all day?  Then straight home, to bed, and start another day?  Don’t let it happen that a whole day goes by and you haven’t been outside for 15 or 20 minutes!  (Okay, we’ll give you a pass in a blizzard!)

There’s one super good reason for this: natural sunlight is the ONLY thing that helps our bodies process vitamin D, which is very important for you health, and especially in keeping you from getting depressed!!!  Honest!  So get out there and go for a walk!  Even if it’s cloudy out, the suns natural rays are coming right on through (yep, you can sunburn in the fog!) and will do you good!  (As long as you don’t overdo it!) Braving the cold for short periods also helps build up your immune system!

All that health… what are you gonna do with it?

Have a KEWL weekend!

Do You Rooney?

Thursday, March 6th, 2008

rooneyWe’ve been Rooney all day - and maybe into the night as well!  We’ve been with the pop rock band Rooney on the phone (the lead singer was in Canada this morning), with the rest of the band right now (clearly not this team member, but hey, someone’s gotta write the blog and return mail!), and our photographer Eric will probably go to the show tonight and shoot the whole band in action!  We are sending all our energy to the guy who had to fly down from Canada today!  Rock on guys!

…And David Henrie visits today!

Wednesday, March 5th, 2008

David Henrie

We’re pretty darn lucky!  Visits from all the kewl dudes in one week!  And just barely keeping the new cover under wraps (okay, we’ll tell you on Friday!)… all in all March is a boy-licious month at KEWL!  We’re testing out new products to offer ya’ll as prizes in coming issues, and getting ready to lose an hour this weekend by doing our best to catch up on our sleep!  We interviewed the creepiest kids writer out there earlier this morning (like, waaaay early - California wakes up last, so for us, it was early!).  We get all the guys this month, just to give them all back to you guys next month!  Aren’t we fun!

Oh!  If you are having trouble locating our mag, as a commenter on our last blog was, there are a few things you can do:

We’d suggest subscribing - you save 50% off the newsstand price, and once we’ve paid the postage for you, we’re basically giving it away!  But we’re like that!

If you can’t subscribe online, and would rather pay with check or money order, send us a note giving us your full name, mailing address, with city, state and zip clearly readable, and a check or money order for $17.95.  We’ll get the most recent issue out to you as soon as humanly possible, and continue to mail to you for a total of 10 issues (about a year’s worth o’ mags).  It’s a great deal, and you’ll always be on the same ‘page’ with us…get it?  In the spirit of that bad joke, if you want to send us any puns below, please do.  We can always use a good healthy groan!

Cody Linley, Anyone?

Tuesday, March 4th, 2008

Cody Linley

The March issue should be hitting stands and mailboxes anytime now, and we’re already half finished with our April Earth Day issue!  Just a few celebrities to see and interview here in our offices, and get their own personal pledges for the environment to share with you.  We have such kewl stuff headed your way!  It’s kind of sick…in the good way!

We now have to clean up our offices (yes, it never ends) because Cody Linley is coming in to visit us today!  We’re looking forward to it, and must make ourselves presentable!

Gotta go clean!

Sammi Came to Visit

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

Sammi Hanratty

We had Sammi Hanratty in to visit us last Friday night!  It was the only time she could make it in to visit us, because she’s booking so many new movies these days!  And some of them are top secret, so I can’t even talk about them yet!  She can’t either!  Ah! The secrets of Hollywood!

Since this now twelve year old starting working in 2005, she’s been on every show you know and love, from The Suite Life, to iCarly to this Fall’s hit show Pushing Daisies!  She’s got four films coming up this year for you, including Jack and the Beanstalk, an allstar, allfairytale extravaganza in which she plays the legendary Gretel of Hansel-and-Gretel fame!  And then there’s the movie we can’t talk about!  Sheesh!  We’re sure glad she found some time to visit us!

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend!
