Not because we like her (no, not at all!), but just for you, our KEWLreaders (we’re so self-sacrificing!), we’ll be attending the Premiere for the new Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus Tour film today!  Our photog, Eric, is already out there staking out a place on the red carpet, and our editor and film crew will be getting in to the action as well!  We can be sure of Miley being there, and The Jonas Brothers and Aly & AJ, but who knows what other stars and kids of stars may show up for the fun today?!?  The movie comes out in theatres on February 1st, but Miley will be busy with her tour extension by then!  As a matter of fact,  she’s back in action tomorrow and all weekend long playing three shows in Las Vegas, and we’ll be there to cover that, too!!!  Aly & AJ will be onstage with her, so expect some serious ‘girl power grooving’ to ensue!!!

Also, thank you guys for your great comments on Skin Care and Internet Safety!  The Skin Care comments are going into the online article as soon as I get them, and the Internet Safety comments might show up as part of a big internet safety article we’ll have in our March issue!  The Feb. issue is coming soon!  And subscribers might be able to get it as soon as next week!

We can’t believe the stuff we have to edit out of the posts you guys try to put up on our website for everyone to see!  Phone numbers, email addresses, street addresses, full names, schools, grades!  It scares us that you all might be putting it up on other sites where they don’t protect you like we do!

Over the weekend, a member of theKEWLteam visited the Palm Springs International Film Festival, to check out some of the cutting edge films that may, or may not, be headed your way!  Film Festivals show foreign films, documentaries, independent films, and even a few movies slated for big release, but all before you can see them anywhere else!  It’s a kewl opportunity to check out what’s happening in film-making beyond what Hollywood is hyping with million dollar marketing campaigns (Yep!  Some movies spend more on advertising than they spend on making the movie itself!!).  And most film festivals will give a listing of family friendly films as well!  There are thousands of festivals all over the world year round, so it should be relatively easy to find one in or around your city!

One of the movies our KEWLteam member saw, was called “Run, Fat Boy, Run”.  It’s from the same guys who wrote, directed and starred in “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz”, so if you love those movies, you’ll know basically what to expect… except that these guys are continually genius in new and surprising ways!  This movie is family themed, but in a very European sense, and has some gross humor as well.  In short, it is the story of a man who leaves his pregnant girlfriend at the altar, and when confronted with her perfect ‘new guy’, must decide whether he can live with a new arrangement.  It’s got a lot of classic set-ups, but the way they solve the problems is always surprising.  It’s a thoroughly enjoyable comedy, and even though some of the jokes and sight gags were immature, our teammate found herself laughing just the same!  It’s rated PG-13, so there’s minimal swearing and a few butt jokes to get through.  If silly comedy is your thing, and some heart and brains, you should be in for a great time!

We’re also happy to report that yesterday there were more book reviews to moderate (that means: say okay to) than TV show reviews!  Now that’s KEWL!

It happened folks!  And it looks like we’ll have a signed magazine or two to give away in the next issue!  So keep your eyes peeled!Have you all been to your local newsstand or bookstore to look for KEWL?!?  Well what are you waiting for?!?  And if they don’t have it, ask them for it!!!  Better yet, go in with a group of your friends, and tell the owner or manager that you all want it!  As they say (sadly) money talks!  And if you show them that they can do some good business with you and your friends, they’ll be more inclined to order what you want for their store!  Squeaky Wheel, and all that!And if that’s just too much, keep up by becoming a subscriber!  We’ll send you the mag directly to your home as soon as they come off the presses, plus lot’s of fun extras, and we’re working on those international subscriptions!  Don’t want to leave anyone out!Awards season has officially begun, even if not on TV!  Last weekend the Palm Springs International Film Festival started giving out awards to all our favorite movies of the year, including June and Hairspray, and last night, the Critic’s Association gave out a heap more in Santa Monica!  Sunday is the weird and iffy Golden Globes, which are usually such a hoot!  It’s just too bad!  Usually, they kick off the season.  The People’s Choice Awards is also coming, and then it kind of starts to snowball with SAG and the Independent Spirit Awards and finally the Oscars!  You can look into the future of films by following the Sundance Film Festival Awards, but most of those aren’t available to see unless you’re there, so…!  The poor stars must need a month off after running from city to city, changing clothes and smiling!  Always smiling! yourKEWLsmileteam!

Our editor, Denise, has jumped on the Miley World tour bus. She’s experiencing the ‘rockstar life’ on a tour bus, and so far, she’s happy she’s only spending a few nights with the gang, instead of the whole 70 days!  Her bunk on the bus is tiny, and there are 6 other people you have to live with on it, sharing one toilet!  Yeah!  Some ‘rockstar life’!!!  Sounds like hard work to bring it to the fans to us! Hope ya’ll had a better weekend than we did - all those who didn’t go to Miley’s concert in Atlantic City were home getting over the flu!  Keep washing your hands, and don’t touch your face!  Best two ways to keep from getting sick right now!Good health and happiness to you all!theKEWLteam
