And at KEWL, we’ve never been happier to see rain!  It hasn’t really rained here in almost two years!!!  Finally we get some of that smoke from the forest fires here scrubbed out of the sky and everything gets a good wash!  Only losers?  The surfers!  With two years of dreck flowing down the storm drains and out into the ocean, it won’t be safe to get back in the water for at least a week!  Darn it all!  And this is the best surf of the year around here!

That’s why we think it’s important support the work of Heal the Bay and the Surfrider Foundation.  These groups work to improve awareness about things that should not be left in streets or gutters or washed down street drains, like pet refuse, motor oil or harsh chemicals, and cigarette butts.  They all end up in our ocean, endangering and killing sea life, and smacking into our faces when we want to go for a swim at the beach!  Sick, huh?  (And while smoking is bad for you anyway, not taking responsibility to properly dispose of  your own butts, especially in dry areas like California, is especially insane!)

Are there any environmental groups in your area that help protect nature and you while you’re in it?  Tell us about them!  And make sure to spend a day getting involved and helping out!  You could even take a picture of you helping, make a bunch of copies, and send them out as Holiday cards, letting people know you dedicated your day of service to them!  Now that’s a KEWL holiday gift!

Even though the KEWL offices are a pretty ‘decorated’ space to begin with (we’ve got all of our own posters on the walls, and then some!), we’re thinking of sprucing up the place with a little holiday magic! 

What, in your opinion, should we do to make our space more ‘holiday-rific’?!?  Boughs of holly?  Colored lights?  Kitschy-Kewl or more Traditional?  Perhaps a color scheme like Vanessa Hudgens and her family are doing this year?  They’re going for silver and gold… that should be pretty! 

On the first, we’ll be out deafening our neighbors with our best effort at carol singing!  What kinds of things do you do to welcome the season, and the spirit of the season, into your home?  Let us know!  Sharing traditions, and finding new ones to add to the mix, are just another way to be giving and receiving every year of our lives!

What was the best thing you ate this weekend?!?  Funnest thing you did? 

theKEWLteam went to Michael Petersen (Disney Movie Surfers)and his twin brother’s Birthday Party (so kewl!), and after that, it was on to the Hollywood Christmas Parade.  As a matter of fact, some of the team are still there!

We all oinked out on Turkey and stuffing and potatoes and yams and especially on Pumpkin Pie!

Did you guys know?  We just finished sending our next issue to the printers, and we’re already deep into the issue for January!!! How crazy is that???  As each issue gets bigger and better, and we start adding more and more features for you guys, we just have that much more to do everyday and it’s getting nutty in here!!!

We guess that’s true of any work, though: It never ends.  We used to think, “Oh!  When schools over, we’ll never have to do home-work again!”  Boy, were we wrong!  Home-work, in some form or another, continues through out your life!  Especially if you want to keep growing and becoming an even more super person at every stage of your life, even when you’re getting old!

What do you guys do to help get ready for your family’s celebration?  If you’re an American, this holiday celebrates the first harvest meal celebrated with the Wampanoag Indians by some of our earliest settlers.  Depending on your own personal ethnic heritage, Thanksgiving can be a mish-mash of culturally diverse Harvest Festivals!  No matter what, most families have a tradition for the holiday.  What is your’s?  And what is your personal part in the festivities?  Decorating?  A certain salad or side-dish?  Tell us all about it!

Last night we went to a concert for Jump 5, and got to sit down and talk to the group!  Bad news: They’re splitting up after over 8 years together!  The good news: They’re all going on to other projects where you can see them in the future! 

Chris will be pursuing R&B and rap, keeping up the dancing (!) and trying his hand at acting in LA!  Leslie is getting married (OMG), and wants to musically focus on her country roots.  Brandon and Brittany are sticking together (as siblings do!), and have formed a new band called “Guess”, which is more piano driven rock-pop.  That all sounds so kewl!
